Calif. — A runaway truck hauling tons of gravel flew off an embankment Tuesday and crushed a home, killing a man, a woman and a child inside, authorities said.
The truck's brakes might have failed as it careened along State Highway 154 and through two intersections, then hit two parked cars before plunging down a driveway onto the house.
"Completely flattened it," Santa Barbara County fire Capt. David Sadecki said.

we should take a hard look at the roads these trucks will be traveling...small, curvey, houses right outside the right of way.......
ReplyDeleteAs a parent of a 3 year old who stays at home, this article hits home (pardon the pun). True, this is a million-to-one chance occurrence, but as a parent, you always worry about the worst case scenario. There are too many "what ifs" for our family to support this quarry.
ReplyDeleteThat post has no business being here. Just cause it was a rock quarry truck doesnt mean anything. Its a TRUCK, its not the gravels fault that the brakes went out. Grow up you people. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of fool builds their house that close to the road anyway? This story reminds me of the one in The Bible about the man that built his house on sand instead of rock.... Apparently Jesus favors a rock quarry also.
ReplyDeleteThe same kind of fool that throws rocks - and Jesus didn't advocate that either.....
