A good point was raised the other night when talking with a neighbor - what will happen to those outside of Calhoun who are on wells? Does the blasting affect those wells? If I have a shorter well, am we more likely to be affected? Will a deeper well be safer? Do the investors plan to conduct surveys of peoples homes and wells before they start blasting every day? If so, who will they survey, those in a 1-mile radius, 2 mile radius....???
If anyone has information on the effects of blasting on wells, please share it in the comments section. Also, if anyone knows an appraiser or insurance contact that can tell us how to do a survey before these guys start blasting, share that here as well. Thanks.
My sister lives near a quarry outside of Atlanta. She said that quarry hired a firm (like insurance or appraisels) came to her and did a survey before they started blasting. Took a bunch of pictures of there foundation, home, windows, garage, driveway - so in case the blastng cracks her drywall, they now who is responsible. I'll ask her how close they live to the quarry, but i want to say it was around a mile or 2. maybe we should see if these investors will pay for someone to do the same appraisel.
ReplyDeleteIf you live, like I do, to the east of this site no need to do a survey----we are going to dry up...period....
ReplyDeleteThat is some terrible property you own there Johhny, you might consider selling it to them. That area where they are putting this rock quarry is only good for growing marijuana.
ReplyDeleteWell that is just disgusting, I would rather them put a rock quarry there then have people growing weed or brewing meth. At least the quarry will be legal.
ReplyDeleteEducate yourselves PLEASE! I have spoken to an engineer who has worked in this field for 40 years who laughed at these ridiculous posts. NO the wells will not be affected, if they withstood the three earthquakes in the last two years, blasting for rock will not affect them any more than a sonic boom. GROW UP
ReplyDeleteThat's not what the state of tennessee fire marshall says - where did you get your engineer? Wal-mart?
ReplyDeleteWhat does a fire marshall know about blasting rock? Maybe we need to call in the person that works at the hardees drive thru window and get their professional opinion.....
